Collaborative Learning 2016

During the week of October 24, Grade 10 students from Edwin Parr Composite School and Grade 3 students from Whispering Hills Primary School took part in a unique collaborative learning experience. The EPC students travelled to WHPS where the Grade 3 students helped them complete group projects on the Progression of Hominids (primitive human species).

The younger students helped create posters and build models, which meets the Grade 3 curriculum objectives of learning colouring, organization and literacy skills.

Meanwhile, the older students covered Social 10 curriculum objectives which include examining the dimensions of globalization, citizenship and contributing to community well-being. Plus, by working with the Grade 3 students, they also earned a high school credit in Human & Social Services 1050: Introduction to Mentorship.

The collaboration was a pilot project developed by EPC and WHPS, with a goal of implementing the collaboration within other Aspen View schools.
